The VAST-dv is a notebook PC-based system designed to deliver MPEG2
and MPEG1 audio and video over high-speed data channels. The VAST-dv is
ideal for use in many fields, including news gathering, emergency management,
government, military, exploration, and survey.

The VAST-dv offers user selectable MPEG1 and MPEG2 settings and eight
coding rates from 1.0 to 15Mbps. data transmission rates as low as 64Kbps are
possible; however, a minimum of 128Kbps is recommended. Data transmission
can be accomplished via satellite or land line.
The VAST-dv features the highly reliable with VFTP protocol for transmission
integrity, and an IEEE1394 "firewire" port allowing easy connection to the latest
digital video cameras.
Easily transportable at fewer than 5 pounds and the VAST-dv connects easily to
a myriad of data channels including VSAT, ISDN, 100Base-T Ethernet, and
Inmarsat terminals.
Easy-to-use Windows® 98-based VAST-dv software in a standard notebook
allows the VAST-dv to double as the user's primary PC.
