Durafone -“The Tough One” and Solarphone
The heart of Durafone is the Mobilfone Inmarsat Mini-M terminal. With its built-in battery and rugged magnesium case construction, the Mobilfone is capable of providing voice, fax, and data services from virtually anywhere in the world. For added transit protection Durafone comes in a customized waterproof hard case assuring safe equipment arrival and operation under harsh deployment conditions.
To extend field operation, the system includes an additional NiCd battery, a universal AC-DC converter as well as a DC power cord with cigarette lighter adapter; a 5-meter antenna cable is included to allow operation with the antenna remote from the electronics unit. The entire system weighs only 12 lbs (including the case) while providing full protection for the Satcom in even the most rugged environments. The case is airtight and completely waterproof.
Another configuration includes a 6 amp hr solar panel to recharge the batteries for complete independence from external power sources
